The actor still enjoys a huge popularity as was evident when the crowd at a recent concert in the United States cheered her when she set foot on stage. Even after so many years, leaving India and settling down abroad, Madhuri Dixit’s fan base hasn’t declined. It was evident during a recent concert with the Bachchan’s in the USA where the crowd welcomed the dancing diva with a thunderous applause the moment she storm on stage.
Speaking about the concert Madhuri says, “The tour gave me an opportunity to perform with Bachchan family on the same stage. The LA and San Francisco shows have been overwhelming and I am looking forward to reaching out to my fans.” Apart from Amitabh, Aishwarya and Abhishek, the tour also features Preity Zinta. “I have worked with Aishwarya and Preity before and that has been great. Also there is a great comfort level in our team,” says Madhuri.
However, this was not the first time that Madhuri was appearing for a stage show. “I was three-and-half years old when I first performed on stage. It was a small portion of Kathak,” she says smiling. When asked about her first world tour, she says, “It was in 1991. I was on a world tour with Anil Kapoor. It happened after our movies Tezaab and Ram Lakhan were declared hits.”
Madhuri also recalled the time when she was recognised for the first time by her fans. “It was after my movie Tezaab was declared a hit. I was at the Mumbai airport when I saw a few youngsters whispering amongst themselves. I heard the word Mohini – my screen name in Tezaab. One of them then came up to me and asked, ‘Are you are Mohini from Tezaab?’ I was very excited. I also received many fan mails after Tezaab. I was amazed by the response. That was the first time I realized that I was getting admired,” she signs off.
